Bioessence is a box-office debutante on its 18th Anniversary
Last October 31, we celebrated with friends and fellow bloggers Bioessence's momentous event - its 18th anniversary. It was nice to see a theater full of customers, doctors, therapists and even Bioessence ambassadors to mark its 18 years in the business.
And just like a debutante, Bioessence celebrated with a bash by treating its patrons to a blocked screening of the latest James Bond movie, Skyfall.

How does it feel to celebrate with Bioessence?

The Chicken Dish Outback Steakhouse Paid Us to Take Home
Alright, you might think this is some promotional blog or whatever but it is and it is not at the same time. It is because it is a blog and I am going to promote my experience in a restaurant where my family and I ate. It is not because I am not paid or invited to go to this restaurant to blog about them. I went there at my own capacity and paid for my own meal. Food tastes better when you pay for it anyway (in my humble opinion).
I am not a food blogger so don't expect a sophisticated review. My knowledge of cooking is very limited and most of the time I use what I learned from my chemistry lab when I'm cooking.
But what I am 100% and definitely sure of is that I am a consumer. I buy lots of products and I am a decision-maker in making purchases for our household.
Why am I blogging this? You are reading this blog because I want to share my experience how we got paid to take home chicken from Outback Steakhouse. And so the story goes this way...

Corruption and Politics in Blogging
I have so many stories of things that sickens me about the world and I could have ranted it here in my blog but I didn't. Why? Just because I can does not mean I have to. But this time its different, I think that if I don't do something about the issues that plague me then I will be doing myself and the rest of the world an injustice. I remember a famous quote from Edmund Burke "
The only thing necessary for the
triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing." And I've seen evil recently, just pure evilness and I just can't take a blind eye any more because its a filth that's just too big, too fat, to ignore.
1. Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is looking.
There are so many temptations in blogging especially because of the idea that it is supposedly uncensored and unbiased. But is it? Is it really unbiased? Is it really uncensored? I am not so sure about this. Press releases are released in different blogging groups for bloggers to publish unedited or edited in their blogs depending on the blogger. I guess there is no problem with that especially if the brand is something that you support or if you want to share an announcement or information. However, what if its not? What if its just for traffic? I guess that's all right too if its your niche but what if its not? What if you just want to get the favor of the PR person who released it or if you just need content for your blog because you have nothing to write anymore, you're too busy to write or you don't know how to write?
Can you still call it objective? Can you still call it unbiased? Can you still call it a blog? or is it just a site for PR people to dump their press releases. Na-ah-ah. Be careful because you can't believe your own press release.
2. Honesty, Openness and Trust (HOT).
I was taught that if you have a concern with any one then you should address that person concerned directly. Why? Because it will not do you any good or service if you spread rumors and lies or backstab people that have wronged you. It will only create more animosity and distrust. Isn't the purpose of conversation to clarify things so that we can do better next time. So how can backstabbing really help? Really how? The person is not there to protect him or herself, to stand up and clarify what he or she believes? And you attack this person? Then the backstabber proclaims he or she is in the right, how in the world did you ever come up with that illusion when the premise of your action is based on lies and deceit? I am appalled.
As adults and possible model figures to the people around us, it seems the blogging culture is turning out to be an online version of corruption and politics with issues like lootbag hoardering, backstabbing, client snatching, and online bullying.
Is karma digital? I hope so because I've met "religious people" who pray out loud and publicly to a God and behind closed doors hurt, bad-mouth, gossip, instigate, create and exaggerate issues that could be fixed if only a HOT communication was done. When I say karma I don't wish for people to get hurt but I wish for them the same thing Princess Danielle wished for her evil stepmother "show her the same courtesy that she has bestowed upon me."
Too bad we have these issues in blogging because it is hurting the system. They call themselves people with breeding? But what is breeding? Can you call yourself a person with breeding if people can only see you do good things when you're in public? Inside in your heart and soul can you really say that you have breeding if you spend half of your life making people feel miserable and the other half feeling miserable for yourself.
3. Play fair and protect the oppressed.
People are strong when they are surrounded by what they call peers and groups. They say they have power in number. I'd rather walk alone in a road less traveled than follow a tide that has brought out years of corruption, crab-mentality and grief. No wonder nothing has changed because we keep on doing the same thing. We hurt and destroy the few ones that go against our will because we are threatened to face the reality that we are wrong. Instead of taking responsibility for our actions we look for scapegoats. It will never change unless we play for win-win.
I hope I live and die giving hope. As I've said hope is a dangerous thing to lose because when you are feeling hopeless then that's when "Two-face" was born. I hope I can emulate our heroes lives. I haven't given up hope and will continue to blog even if at times it sickens me to the stomach because I know there are still a few good men and women out there who will stand out for the truth even if it means going against the tide however big and ugly it may be.
I have received this gift from friends and our discussion have resulted to a very fruitful exchange. It is always a blessing to share thoughts and ideas with kindred spirits.

Argentine Tango Couples to Dance at the 4th Manila Tango Festival
Ballroom dances like Tango is close to my heart because my ex-boyfriend (now my husband) were dance partners in our college P.E. Ballroom summer class. That was the time he was courting me so just imagine the tension while we danced together during the summer heat. Whew!
When I received information about the 4th Manila Tango Festival, I actually informed my husband to attend with me. You see we promised ourselves (with more coaxing coming from me) that when we're old and retired (and hopefully still have the body and energy to dance) that we will go back to ballroom dancing to exercise and re-live our college memories. Well maybe we will choose a less strenuous dance than Tango because I heard a hip surgery can cause you a lifetime of pain. Still, ballroom dancing is still in our bucket list and I cannot wait to dance the night away again with my life partner.

Claw Daddy Edsa Shangrila Osteria Americana: A Night of Pizza, Pasta and Wine (A Review)
Claw Daddy Shangrila Osteria Americana |
When you hear the name of the restaurant Claw Daddy the first thing that enters most people's mind is lobster. And I did have that expected impression seeing patrons wearing their big aprons, digging on big plates of food and laughing with gusto as they wrestle their lobster. However, this time my Claw Daddy Osteria Americana experience was different because tonight I will be trying out their pizza, pasta and wine.

Holy Kettle Corn! - A Consumer's Review Part 1
Popcorn
is already one of the staple snacks in my family. My husband is religious in
getting anime series for us which we watch every week as a family. It is one of
the highlights of our week. We follow about 3 to four animes at a time so
that’s about two hours of anime that we watch in a week.
And every time my nuclear family is gathered to watch our favourite anime, popcorn is always there. That’s why my family and I can proudly say that we can tell whether we are eating good popcorn or not.
What is Holy Kettle Corn?
What can my P100 buy in 2012?

Summer is hotter with Banana Boat Sunscreen Lotion, Schick, & Nuffnang
My ideal Nuffnang summer is a trip on the beach with my family.
Last year we were lucky to spend quality time with my mom and youngest sister when they came home from abroad. It was the first time for the Adam's family and its extended families to hop on a plane together, to eat crocodile meat and to get stung by a box jelly fish!
Now talk about a bonding experience. It was chaotic most of the time but it was the most fun chaos we've ever had in such a long time ever since we started our own families. The question is not how we survived the jellyfish but how did we survive each other?

"Who are we to question tradition?" - I do. I question Tradition especially if its just plain WRONG!
I've told my students countless times - Think Before You Act.
I've also heard several times. - Think Before You Click.
Why am I saying this? Because I want the readers of this post to be aware that I've thought about this post before I wrote it and I decided to make a stand. A stand I hope will reach many. Why? Because there are some traditions that just have to stop!
This is a reaction based on the article I read from Manila Bulletin's online newspaper entitled " Make Way for the Dragon: Manila Hotel’s Mabuhay Palace welcomes 2012 with a knockout menu".
Since the comments section of the post does not show and there is no way to express my view regarding the article, I am writing my reaction in my own blog.

Where is Banawe, Quezon Avenue? Near Ma Mon Luk Quezon Avenue
The good thing about Ma Mon Luk is that it never changed.
I’ve eaten here a long time ago and going back I notived that as if nothing has
changed. The same smell, the same aura, the same feeling. Maybe the face of the
people around me is different but there is something familiar about being at Ma
Mon Luk as if I went back to the past and never left. The beef mami tastes the
same. The chicken ala Ma Mon Luk taste, well still the same.

Samsung Galaxy Tab™ 7.7 Launch at Eastwood Mall
As a random surprise from the love of my life, one day he brought home a
Samsung Galaxy Tab for me. I've been having a hard time finishing my blogs on time
because of my busy schedule and I was hoping I can do part of my blogs during lag time
in blogging events. That way, I can save a lot of time from writing and I can
keep my agreements.

What is a Happy Problem?
What is your Happy Problem? |
Oxymoronic as it may seem, happy problem can be a perception where a businessman sees challenges as windows of opportunity to better improve a system or product. To put it simply, it is the challenges one encounters due to your success let's say a long queue because your product is so in demand, your product becomes out of stock after just 30 minutes that its been on the shelf or a service everyone is clamoring to get.
