According to National Parks Development Committee (NPDC) Executive Director Juliet H. Villegas, Ms. Tugonon’s visit to Rizal Park is an immense honor not just for the NPDC team, but for all Filipinos in the country due to the honor that Tugonon has earned for the country after she bagged the 1st runner-up title during the 2012 Miss Universe Beauty Pageant held in Las Vegas last December.

According to the said official, “The National Parks Development Committee family and the Department of Tourism are happy and are truly proud of Miss Universe 1st Runner-Up Janine Tugonon. It is a great honor for us here at the NPDC to have Ms. Tugonon as a guest, as she personally allotted time to visit and experience the beauty and grandeur that Rizal Park has to offer. These make Rizal Park a world-class urban tourist spot, like the renowned exquisite beauty of Filipinas, which Miss Universe Janine Tugonon showcased to the world during the pageant.”

Tugonon is slated to arrive at the park by 2:00 p.m. to offer flowers and give respect to the monument of Dr. Jose Rizal, our national hero, with Villegas and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.

Afterwards, Tugonon will tour Rizal Park together with Villegas on a karwahe so she could personally see the beauty of the tourist spot, as well as witness the improvements made in the park which have been conceptualized and executed by the management to bring back the Filipinos’, and the tourists’, trust and interest in the said historic site.

The said official believes that Tugonon will be of great help in promoting Rizal Park as the premier urban park destination not just in the country, but in other countries as well.
