Win-Win Contest: Win Manila Ocean Park tickets for 4 different attractions!

I just received the tickets given to me by Manila Ocean Park for covering the Rave Event. My special thanks to the Marketing Team of Manila Ocean Park especially the nighttime marketing team Ms, Armi, Ms. Donna and Ms. Sue for all their support.

On that day, the invited bloggers were the lucky ones who got first glimpse of Hotel H2O’s Liquid Pool and Lounge. Since then, I have received tremendous blessings after giving this service which started with just an idea of promoting Manila’s tourism especially to help Manila bounce back from the Mendoza incident.

I am not saying we should just forget what happened that day. It will not be fair for the survivors and the victims as well. However, let’s move forward and do better next time. As I watched the Mendoza incident from the moment it was telecast live until it ended and even all throughout the hearings, I felt so sad that there was nothing I can do to help. So when opportunity arose to promote Manila’s tourism, I jumped at the chance right away. There was just this compelling desire to do something for all the tears shed that fateful night.

Coming from UP, I had this program that I have to fight for everything but after PSI I now know better. Now, I can say that it would be a lot easier to stand in front of the crowd and tell them to go with me on a rally compared to thinking of a win-win situation where everyone will benefit from the decision one will make. Some people might argue, oh but you know you can’t please everybody. On the other hand, this is not about pleasing everybody this is about doing what is right. One Filipino culture we are proud of is the idea of bayanihan. But at this time and age there are no bahay kubo’s to carry anymore. The burden is now to help the Philippines rise from the heavy corruption and crab mentality that creeps in a Filipino’s mind. This is the hunger Bo Sanchez was talking about; the attraction John Calub is advocating; the mindset Jomar Hilario repeatedly mentions; the agape Sonnie Santos and his team has been giving; the strategic thinking Cito Beltran is promoting and the service – Alvin Tabanag has been spreading.

I have so many mentors in my life and I have not mentioned everyone yet. But the ones mentioned were my inspiration to think that I am committed to do something bigger than myself. It’s time to look at the beauty of our own country, the talents, the gems who continuously stay here in our country to be of service to none other than the Filipino.

And that is what I love about Manila Ocean Park. It is Philippines one and only oceanarium so far. It advocates for a lot of many things that we take for granted. So today, I am inspired to organize this contest. Yes, this is my first ever contest and my pledge as well to help as many people become successful.

Trip or Treats: Goodie Giveaway #8: Cebu Pasalubong Gift Hat!

I read a blog from Trip or Treats Goodie Giveaway #8: Cebu Pasalubong Gift Hat! which inspired me to write this blog. The blogger who made the post is giving away goodies from her Cebu travel. After reading the post, I remember how great was my Cebu travel last Christmas 2009. So I decided to post here my precious Cebu travel pictures which I will be adding comments regarding consumerism. The blog post I mentioned having a contest right now is from http://www.triportreats.blogspot.com/. Check out her blog as the contest ends on November 20, 2010.

For family fun, the best activity we did as a group is to take the Skytour at Crown Regency Cebu. Each of us paid P888 to enjoy the skywalk, edge coaster, 4D movie and a buffet dinner. As a family, we thought it was a really great deal. I think the only downside of the tour is that photo opportunities is monopolized by the service provider thus we were surpised to find out that pictures cost thousands of pesos for each sky treat. Take note each sky treat has a different rate for pictures. And so if you want to remember your adventure you have no choice but to pay for the bloated price for the pictures. Unless of course, you know how to haggle with the hotel staff. wink wink. Still, in terms of experience and bonding moments this is really a great thing to do in Cebu. As for the 4D movie and the buffet, I can say that it was mediocre. It was not bad but it was not amazing as well.

To go to city tour in Cebu, we decided to rent a cab for the day! Don't try to fit everything in your itinerary in one day or you'll end up really exhausted. When we went to Cebu, I was surprised that traffic can be compared to Manila traffic at times. Not the heavy kind but it was still traffic. But the best thing is that you can go to several historical sites in half a day or if you really want to finish it in one day I guess you can do that as well. So we went to Fort San Pedro, Casa Gorordo, Guitar factories, Lapu-Lapu-Magellan Sutukil, Magellan's Cross, Basilica de Sto. Nino, and many more. We paid about P2000 for renting the cab for a day or P200 per hour. We were told it was expensive but the experience and convenience was worth it.

I many not be able to give you a chance to get a Cebu travel package but if you want to get a taste of these Cebu delicacies, check out to join the contest from Trips or Treats:

2011 Awesome Calendar of the Philippines

This 2011 Awesome Calendar of the Philippines is sent to me through e-mail. This list was taken from the list provided by www.ourawesomeplanet.com written by Anton Diaz. What I like about the 2011 Awesome Calendar of the Philippines is that it has the list of Philippine festivals I'd like to go with my family all year round. So if I need ideas where the family and I can go to for our next vacation, I just have to search the 2011 Awesome Calendar of the Philippines in www.iaadamlim's blog or check out ourawesomeplanet's website for the list.

Just an idea bubble in my head, it would be great to discuss consumerism issues while vsiting every single Philippine festivals all year round. Ah what a life that would be! Imagine the wealth of information we can get from doing that. It would be really helpful to promote and improve consumerism and tourism here in the Philippines. Come to think of it, we are not doing so bad since according to a newspaper I read, tourism is still up11% even after we had the Mendoza incident. Still, I think without the Mendoza incident we could have done better. At this time, all we can do is move forward and find solutions to the growing need to improve the quality of consumerism and to let the Filipino values shine in everything that we do.

Again to give credit to the maker of this calendar, I would like to refer to the note below:

Pacquiao vs Margarito Fight: Live Screening at Manila Ocean Park (Review)

Alright if by accident you opened this blog expecting that there will be no spoilers about the ongoing television cast of the Pacquiao-Margarito Fight then I'm sorry but I cannot promise you anything. On the other hand, what I can guarantee to you is that I will focus on reviewing what it is like to watch a Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of the Pacquiao-Margarito Fight.

When we arrived at the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of Pacquiao-Margarito Fight at 9:00 am, we were greeted already by a long queue of guests.

The caterer which is handled by Makansutra were still preparing the chafing dish and food. The good thing is that there were lots of seats to choose from. What makes the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening different for me is that if you don't feel like watching the pre-fights first, you can just watch the sea animals peacefully swimming around the main tank of Manila Ocean Park. The reason I said this is because the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening Pacquiao-Margarito Fight was held at the area beside the main tank of Manila Ocean Park.

The venue of the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of Pacquiao-Margarito fight is held in two areas. The first one as I mentioned is beside the main tank and the other one is in a conference area facing the Manila bay.

I remember the main area of the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening Pacquiao-Margarito fight is the same area where they hold the Mermaid shows.

Because guests were pouring in, the staff of Makansutra were very busy to serve the hungry viewers. This is to be expected since the advertisements said that buffet breakfast will be served for the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight. Naturally if your attending, all you need to do is leave your house and proceed to the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening to eat your first meal of the day and take advantage of the buffet meal.

What I know about some people is that they get grumpy when they are hungry and so it was inevitable to hear complaints about the speed of the food service. It was a good thing that the staff of Makansutra was able to minimize the chaos. Still an early preparation could have made the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight run more smoothly.

Since I was there at the very start of the event, the first things we saw were commercials from the paperview provider of the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening Pacquiao-Margarito Fight which is Solar TV. The signal of the livestream was also intermittent causing fluctuations in audio and video feed. Fortunately, once the pre-fights started there were no commercials and interruptions anymore.

Again the purpose of this review is not so much as to report what happened to the fight. My intention for blogging this event is to assess whether watching the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight is a good family event and if it adheres to the values of consumerism. If you want to get the blow by blow account of a sports enthusiast who attended the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight with me go to www.pinoyfitness.com for their review.

Again, I will not pretend to be a sports enthusiast most especially a boxing enthusiast but rather my attendance to this event is mostly because I would like to support a fellow countryman who has constantly made our country "Proud to be Pinoy" in the area of boxing. And so in the next Pacquiao bout I would like to get an idea if watching a live screening can be a major family event where we as a family can share the value of patriotism and Filipino pride with other people.

I also assessed the kind of crowd who attended the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight. Honestly, for the guests of the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of Pacquiao-Margarito fight I was not disappointed. The Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of Pacquiao-Margarito fight was attended by a great crowd who were there to have clean and wholesome fun. It also helped that there were several groups of families present in the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening. The family is complete with grandparents, parents, their children and even up to extended family. Many families were gathered to support Pacquiao in his fight with Margarito.

On the other hand, I think there were unnecessary stressors that could have been avoided. First, is the speed of service of the food providers. Second is the quantity of food since the advertisement said that the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight will include a breakfast buffet, guests were complaining about the insufficient food items readily available when they visit the buffet area. Good thing that Makansutra was able to address the situation by bringing out more food.

Third was the proximity of the comfort room. For me, I think this was something the management cannot really control because the restrooms are already in a fixed location. However, if your watching the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening from the main area you have to leave the vicinity to go to the other area where the restroom is located.

Lastly, the timing of the announcements of prizes was done quite late since the main event of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight was nearing already.

I would have preferred that they distributed the time of giving the raffle prizes before each pre-fight to build up the excitement rather than do it one block of time especially when the Pacquiao-Margarito fight was about to begin. I heard somebody saying if it was possible to turn off the microphone of the announcer because they cannot hear what was being said during the interviews before the fight. Hence, the announcement of prizes and the excitement of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight was competing against each other. Nonetheless, people were still happy to win prizes.

Overall, no matter what the boo-boos are during the Manila Ocean Park Live Screening, it didn't matter that much once the Pacquiao-Margarito fight started. It also has to be noted that this is the first time for Manila Ocean Park to host a live screening of a Pacquiao fight.

I can say that once the Pacquiao-Margarito fight started everyone settled and cheered in unison for every punch Pacquiao gave to Margarito. At the end of the day, I think that's what matters most - to see Pacquiao defend his boxing title.

On the 12th round, people were seated at the edges of their chair waiting for a knockout. Unfortunately it did not happen this time but nonetheless everybody gave a sigh of relief to see Manny Pacquiao without even a single scratch on his face. Congratulations to the People's Hero, Mr. Manny Pacquiao.

Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvasion SM Fairview Mall Tour

Last October 23, 2010,we were invited to witness Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvasion at SM Fairview Mall.

The first batch of hosts for Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvasion were Diego Bandido of YES FM 101.1 and Kristine Dera of 90.7 Love RAdio. The hosts talked about the brief history of BCP Dermatological Corporation. According to them, BCP Dermatological Corporation is the reason behind the Dermablend Papaya Orange and Dermablend Guava Tea Tree soaps and Diana Stalder products. BCP Dermatological Corporation has already 18 years of experience in the business. In addition, Stalder Laboratories, Inc., or SLI, its manufacturing arm, uses imported raw materials from USA and Europe. Stalder Laboratories, Inc., is in compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.

This event is already the second leg of Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvastion . The first Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvastion happened at Market Market last June 29, 2010.

Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvasion showcased different celebrity endorsers of Swisse-Phil Holdings Corp. The first celebrity endorser to perform was Bryan Termulo. He is one of the contenders in Pinoy Pop Superstar.

Little kids also danced and briefly modeled different products from Swisse-Phil Holdings Corporation.

On the second half of the show the hosts were replaced by TAMBALANG BALASUBAS at BALAHURA featuring NICOLE HYALA and CHRISTSUPER. They introduced the ambassadors of beauty for Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvastion . SKINvasion questions were asked by the audience and were readily welcomed and answered by the SKINvasion ambassadors.

After the beauty forum for Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvastion , the endorser for Diana Stalder of Dermaline , Ms. Diana Menesez sang two songs for the audience.

There was also a special segment for Diana Stalder Masculine Wash, a product for men highlighted in this Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvastion . Diana Stalder Masculine Wash was presented by several hunky men who tore their t-shirts in front of the audience to show that they are masculine enough to use Diana Stalder Masculine Wash. They also handed out samples of the Diana Stalder Masculine Wash to spectators.

My personal favorite amongst the performers would be Ms. Mariel Corpuz. Ms. Mariel Corpuz won The World Championships of the Performing Arts (WCOPA) held at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, California last July 23, 2010. Her rendition of "Halo" originally sang by Beyonce Knowles really impressed the crowd. It was a great follow-up after Ms. Dina dela Paz-Stadler's speech about being HAPPY. According to the company's president, Swisse-Phil and its staff maintains a HAPPY disposition where H stands for Happiness, A for Accommodating, P for Persistence, P for Positivity and finally Y for a "Yes I Can" attitude.

And of course, the highlight of the event are performances from two of the most eligible bachelors in the country who happens to be the celebrity endorsers of Dermablend soaps namely Gerald Anderson for Dermablend Guava Tea Tree Soap and Sam Milby for Dermablend Papaya-Orange Soap.

The event ended on time and I can say the Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvasion audience left entertained and "happy" after receiving their freebies from Dermablend and related sponsors.

We would like to express our gratitude to Ms. Dina Dela Paz-Stadler for her invitation to attend the Swisse-Phil Grand SKINvasion. We admire her vision to reach the cusp of technology for beauty while helping as many Filipinos. We need more entrepreneurs like Ms. Dina who promotes a "Yes We Can" attitude.

As for Dermablend products, I am actually a user of Dermablend Cleansing Milk. The Dermablend Cleansing Milk can be used for all types of skin. Dermablend Cleansing Milk is also hypoallergenic, gentle to sensitive skin, non-comedogenic and non-irritating. Personally, I like it because its light and it does not cause me to break-out. It's actually taking me a long time to finish it because I only use it as a cold-cream when I need to remove stubborn make-up or if my eyes are too tired and I need to clean my face. So far that is the only experience I have with Dermablend. I wish that next time they will come up with smaller bottles of Dermablend Cleansing Milk because when the last time I asked they told me that they only offer it in 200ml bottles. The best thing I remembered with my purchase was that that Dermablend Cleansing Milk was affordable and it does the job it promises.

XEND Announcement: LATER 2PM cut-off time! CHEAPER and FASTER Provincial Service

I have been a customer of Xend this year. I do online shopping and selling and one of my buyers said that she intends to buy my item only if I will use Xend as courier service so she can save on shipping rate. And because my goal is to make my on-line shopping experience (whether I am selling or purchasing) a happy one I googled Xend and registered on their site.

It was a new experience for me because there was no live person to assist and give instructions but I said to myself so what this will be just like any on-line course. I first registered so I can have an on-line account at Xend.

To register at Xend, find the tab "Open an Account Now". It's beside "Welcome" of Xend's Homepage http://new.xend.com.ph/Default.aspx

Then after registering at Xend I clicked on the tabs to see which one will help me book a pick-up with Xend. I found the tab "Pick-up" which is in between "Waybill" and "Settings" tab in Xend's page. Click the drop down menu and you will see an option that says "Schedule a Pick-up". Finally I watched a video to help me book a pick-up.Because I scheduled before 8am, my item was picked up on the same day.

So far here are the benefits of using Xend for me:
1. Using Xend gives me convenience of booking a pick-up online and hence it saves time in going to the courier station
2. Xend offers same day pick-up for bookings made before 8am
3. Xend has a minimal fee for sending which is P50 for areas within Metro Manila and P83 to P90 pesos for areas outside Metro Manila
4. So far none of my buyers complained about Xend's speed of delivery which is also important to online sellers and buyers like me.

On the other hand, the only thing I can comment about Xend right now is the quality of the plastic they use for sending. Xend's container used to be white and now its blue. Personally I like the blue better because it looks more durable compared to the plain white one. Other than that I am happy with Xend's service.

The reason I am posting this blog about Xend is because they sent me an e-mail giving its customers more great news. Below please find, the e-mail Xend sent to me. I would like to make a review of Xend's announcement as soon as I try it but for now I would like to share Xend's good news to everyone:

Liquid Pool and Lounge will bring the clubbing experience – Vegas’ style. It is sexy, fun and exquisite like no other.

LIQUID POOL AND LOUNGE features a unique cave architecture embellished by the relaxing hues of the earth and soothing shades of the sea. LIQUID POOL AND LOUNGE, with its state-of-the-art sound & lighting systems, enticing indoor pool facilities, and free-flowing entertainment . . . is Manila's very own secluded escape from the usual lifestyle.

Who is LIQUID POOL AND LOUNGE?

LIQUID POOL AND LOUNGE is an epitome of class, sensuality, and playfulness. A mirror of today's vibrant youth and fun-loving people. An image of elegance, energy, and merriment. LIQUID POOL AND LOUNGE mingles with the young and the “hip” who, like her, love to meet new people and hang-out in exquisite party spots.

LIQUID POOL AND LOUNGE also has your usual comfort foods—like French Fries, Mojos, and Pasta/Noodle dishes—so there's no need to look for them elsewhere!

In the mood for something to make you a bit tipsy before you hit the dance floor or go for a dip? LIQUID POOL AND LOUNGE is never short of premium alcoholic drinks like vodka, scotch, cocktails, and signature drinks to loosen you up a bit. Need a drink to cool you down after showing off those hot dance moves? Treat yourself with some non-alcoholic mocktails to quench your thirst.

What sets LIQUID POOL AND LOUNGE apart from the rest of night-out venues in the metro is its “dip and dance” experience. Why go out of town for a wet nightlife when you can experience an exquisite pool party anytime, right in the heart of Manila's H20 Hotel!

There are two ways to satisfy your senses inside LIQUID POOL AND LOUNGE.
